Governance

The Initiative shall consist of the following organs;

1. THE STEERING COMMITTEE

The Steering Committee is the supreme authority of the Initiative. It is made up of a Chairman, who is the Minister responsible for Cocoa affairs in member countries. The chairmanship rotates annually between Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana.

2. THE SPECIAL COMMITTEE

The Special Committee assists the Steering Committee in its functions, coordinates the activities of the Initiative and serves as the Coordinator of the Initiative in each member country.

3. THE TECHNICAL COMMITTEE

3.1 Economics and Marketing Committee

All member countries of the Initiative shall be members of the Economics and Marketing Committee and shall be represented by officials with the requisite technical expertise. This committee shall be headed by a Chairperson and Vice Chairperson, whose tenure shall be rotated annually among member countries, according to the date on which each country acceded to the Charter. The Economics and Marketing Committee shall focus on the coordination and collaboration of strategies on the marketing, trading, processing, consumption and utilization of cocoa.

3.2 Research and Production Committee

All member countries of the Initiative shall be members of this Committee and shall be represented by officials with the requisite technical expertise. This committee shall be headed by a Chairperson and Vice Chairperson, whose tenure shall be rotated annually among member countries, according to the date on which each country acceded to the Charter. The Research and Production Committee shall focus on the coordination and collaboration of approaches for cocoa research, pests and disease mitigation, extension delivery and sustainability of the cocoa sector.
