High-level meeting between representatives of the cocoa value chain, and the governments of Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana.
Accra — 8 July 2022 — At the invitation of the Executive Secretary of the Côte d’Ivoire-Ghana Cocoa Initiative (CIGCI), HE Alex ASSANVO, the Directeur Général of Le Conseil du Café-Cacao Yves Brahima KONÉ, and the Chief Executive of the Ghana Cocoa Board, Honorable Joseph Boahen AIDOO, met senior industry representatives of the cocoa industry with the aim of working together to develop solutions for:
1. Consolidating the Living Income Differential (LID) for cocoa farmers;
2. Working together for a transition to sustainable cocoa.
The participants agreed on the state of play and the direction to follow to work towards improving the incomes of cocoa farmers and cocoa that is sustainable in its economic, environmental and social dimensions.
In the next few months, technical working groups will be in charge of developing proposals that aim to respond to the major challenges of the sector.
The first set of signatories to the economic pact includes the chocolate makers, traders and processors listed below:

Ce 8 juillet 2022, dans la capitale Ghanéenne, Accra, à l’invitation du Secrétaire Exécutif de l’Initiative Cacao Côte d’Ivoire-Ghana (ICCGI), SEM. Alex ASSANVO, le Directeur Général du Conseil du Café-Cacao, Monsieur KONÉ Brahima Yves, le Chief Exécutif du Ghana Cocoa Board, Honorable Joseph Boahen AIDOO, et les hauts responsables de l’industrie du cacao se sont réunis dans le but de travailler ensemble au développement de solutions pour :
Consolider le différentiel de Revenu Décent (DRD) pour les cacaoculteurs ;
Œuvrer ensemble pour une transition vers un cacao durable.
Les participants se sont accordés sur l’état des lieux et la direction à suivre pour travailler vers l’amélioration des revenus des cacoaculteurs et, un cacao qui soit durable dans sa dimension économique, environnementale et sociale.
Après Accra, dans les prochains mois, des groupes de travail techniques auront la charge d’élaborer des propositions d’actions qui devront répondre aux enjeux majeurs de la filière.
